How we review
How Review Boon researches, assesses and updates its reviews, and how we keep money out of our verdicts.
What we review
Review Boon reviews audio, TV and video, smart home and kitchen products.
Two kinds of review
Every review says at the top how it was done. A hands-on review names the person who tested the product and when. A research-based review compares published specifications, prices, terms, independent test data and official records; it says so, and it never claims we used the product.
What we look at
We assess each option against the same criteria:
- Performance, from independent test data and the maker's published specifications (and our own tests once a named reviewer has used the product)
- Features and build quality
- Price, running costs and value for money
- Warranty, support and repairability
- Who it suits, and the best alternatives
No paid verdicts
Companies cannot pay for a review, a verdict or a place in a comparison. Sponsored placements are labelled and sit outside our comparisons. Retailer links that pay us a commission are marked and never change a verdict.
Ratings
We do not copy star ratings or reviews from other websites. We will only show customer ratings that were left on this site.
Updates
Every review shows when it was published and last updated. We update reviews when prices, terms or products change.
