Gourmia recalls about 176,000 air fryer ovens after 40 burns linked to doors closing unexpectedly

Our take

The French doors on model GTF7530, sold at Target, can close when bumped, the CPSC says. The remedy is a free kit, sent by mail, that adds a doorstop.

Key points

  • Gourmia is recalling about 175,951 stainless steel 9-slice digital air fryer ovens, model GTF7530. Target sold them from October 2021 through June 2026, at about $150.
  • The spring-loaded glass doors can close when bumped. The CPSC counts 40 hand or wrist burns among the 57 door reports Gourmia has received.
  • The CPSC says to stop using the oven. The remedy is a free repair kit by mail, with an added doorstop and instructions.
  • On October 15, the CPSC warned about Kalorik MAXX ovens, which also have spring-loaded French doors. That warning comes with no recall and no remedy.
  • The same day as Gourmia, Baby Brezza recalled about 29,000 SuperFast Sterilizer Dryers that can overheat.

Gourmia is recalling about 175,951 stainless steel 9-slice digital air fryer ovens, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on November 5, 2026. The ovens' two spring-loaded glass doors can close unexpectedly when bumped, which the agency says puts people taking out hot food at risk of burns. Gourmia has received 57 reports of doors closing as someone retrieved food, and the CPSC says they resulted in 40 burns to the hand or wrist.

Which ovens are covered

The recall covers one model, GTF7530, with UPC code 810002862779. The doors are French-style with metal handles. According to the CPSC, the model number and UPC appear on the packaging, and the model number and the codes 3021 to 0126 are on a label on the back of the unit. Target sold the ovens in stores nationwide and at Target.com from October 2021 through June 2026 for about $150. The importer is The Steelstone Group LLC, doing business as Gourmia, of Brooklyn, New York, and the ovens were made in China.

What Gourmia is offering

The CPSC tells owners to stop using the ovens right away and contact Gourmia for a free repair kit, sent by mail. The kit has an added doorstop and instructions for fitting it. The CPSC lists the remedy as a repair, and the notice mentions no refund or replacement. Gourmia's own recall page calls the part a magnetic doorstop. It says the kit should arrive about two to four weeks after a request, that no receipt or return is needed, and that the oven should not be used until the doorstop is installed.

  • Phone: Gourmia toll-free at 888-834-0092. The CPSC gives the hours as Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Gourmia's page gives Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, and Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.
  • Online: www.gourmia.com/recall.asp, or Gourmia.com under “Recall Information” at the top of the page, as the CPSC notice gives it.
  • Recall number: 27-069 on the CPSC notice.

Two French-door notices in three weeks

On October 15, the CPSC warned consumers to stop using Kalorik MAXX and MAXX Advance air fryer ovens, which also have spring-loaded glass French doors with metal handles. Neither notice mentions the other. The difference for owners is the remedy: Gourmia owners have a recall with a free repair kit, while Kalorik owners have neither. Our guide to checking recalls before you buy a kitchen appliance explains how a recall and a warning differ.

How it compares with other air fryer recalls

A title search of the CPSC's database for “air fryer” finds six earlier recalls, all since 2022, most of them for overheating. None of the six involves a door closing on the user. Gourmia's 40 burn reports are also more than any of those notices records; the highest is 10 minor burn injuries in the COSORI recall, which covered about 2 million units.

Also recalled on November 5: a countertop bottle sterilizer

Baby Brezza Enterprises recalled about 29,000 SuperFast Sterilizer Dryers, model numbers BRZ0083, BRZ0154 and BRZ0156, plus about 4,500 sold in Canada. The CPSC says the units can overheat while plugged in and running, which can burn anyone handling the surface. Baby Brezza has 32 reports of overheating or melting plastic housing, and no injuries. The remedy is a free replacement. The CPSC says owners should stop using the unit, register with Baby Brezza, unplug it, cut the power cord and send photos.
